The SAS League Special Cricket Ball is a traditional Grade A leather cricket ball made for league, club and regular match use. According to Safe & Sound Industries, the outer shell is made from top-quality cowhide leather, giving the ball the firm, durable surface expected from a conventional match cricket ball. The ball is entirely hand stitched, creating the prominent raised seam needed for bowlers to grip the ball and generate swing, seam movement and spin. At the core, SAS uses a cork centre surrounded by five-by-five layers of New Zealand wool and Portugal cork. This layered internal construction is designed to provide the density, shape retention and rebound required for repeated match use. The exterior is finished with a polished surface intended to help the ball retain its shine for longer.
